We know that the energy sector is a significant contributor to global warming, as fossil fuels are relied upon to achieve the ultra-high temperatures required for thermal and industrial processes. It is our mission to decarbonise these processes so that global net zero targets can be reached by 2050. Over the past 10 years our leading engineers and scientists have developed cutting-edge high temperature thermal energy storage technology which can do just this.

In May 2023, Exergy3 spun out from the University of Edinburgh and secured £3.6 Million of grant funding from the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero to build a full-scale demonstrator at Annandale Distillery. Since then, we have continued to grow and develop as a company and are now ready to share our decarbonisation solution with the world.

Who Can Use Our Technology?

Our solution can supply heat, as gas or steam, at temperatures between approx. 80-1000 oC and at variable pressures, by taking electricity from the grid or private sources and converting it to thermal energy. This electricity used to “charge” the system can come from renewable sources. The applications of our system are exponential due to its adaptability. They include:
